There is a new clearinghouse website for sermon illustration videos now available. The new site is called Catholic Media House.  It is an artistic and attractive looking site and navigates easily. Looking for a sermon topic?

Pastors find inspiration for their sermon topics in a variety of ways. In this current culture of church media, a new video can be the launching point to a new teaching series. If you are in a brainstorming mode for an upcoming series I would suggest taking 30 minutes to an hour and view some of the new videos available at WorshipHouseMedia.com or SermonSpice.com.

I would also suggest checking out the sermon starters at Crossroads-Creative. They have produced over 65 short intros that are ready-made for your new teaching series.

Coffee with Jesus

There are some good videos out there illustrating all aspects of the role of prayer in a believer’s life. Media Fuel just released a new one called Coffee with Jesus. It looks at how we tend to use prayer as a checklist of what we want and need instead of developing a relationship with Him that includes listening to him and being still before Him. If you are teaching on prayer this video would be a good set-up and it comes in at a good length around 2 minutes.

You can be God’s hands and feet “Right Now”

Sound and Vision Media Service has a new video called Right Now that gives practical ideas on how to show the love of God. Too often we feel paralyzed in knowing how to be God’s hands and feet to a world that desperately needs to know Him.  The production treatment is simple and length is a tad long but still works well in communicating its message to the audience.

Media Fuel’s video on being broken

Media Fuel has produced a contemplative video called Broken. It deals with the the idea of feeling broken and empty and knowing nothing can fill us or fix us except the power and healing of God’s love and grace. It would work well for youth and young adults.

Free Video From Steelhouse

Check out this free video from Steelhouse. It is a animated short short that deals with the first commandment in which God says to have no other gods before him. It is a creative (and right now free) way to introduce the topic of idolatry or a series on the ten commandments. If you have never seen videos by Steelhouse they do cutting edge stuff and one of the more unique and original church media producers out there.

Happy 4th of July

I would like to wish everyone a happy 4th of July. I hope you get a time to relax, spend time with friends and family and eat good food. But most of all I hope we all have a moment of thanking God for our freedom to worship Him.

Here’s a good video from Flashlight Films celebrating our freedom.

New Sermonspice Blog

The folks over at Sermonspice have launched their new blog and since they are the largest distributor of sermon illustration videos it is probably worth a look. They have also a podcast over there covering all things concerning sermon videos.

And while you are over there check out their weekly review video highlighting their new and favorite videos.
